I know... travelling these days is like something really distant. What is a plane?!? XDD
But I am determined to make plans anyway and with plans comes preparation. I don't know about you but airports are extreeeemly boring to me. Unfortunately, I am one of those people that need to be there way before the normal time.
I know that not many people risks the chance to see their crochet hooks being put in a bin at the security control. It is one of those items with no clear policy so at the end it is up to the person that checks your hand luggage. I am talking about hand luggage because what good could your crochet gear make to you if it is in your dropping bag? :-)
So over time I realised that the best option is simply not to draw attention to your crochet hooks. I am not talking about hiding them, just put them in the right place. What I do is to mix my hooks with my pens. I usually don't take with me more than two and never ever my favourite ones. That has worked for me so far.
Then is the other problem. You will probably need scissors. That is a different issue. In theory you are allowed to carry scissors with a blade up to 6cm and a blunt end. It is the type I use everyday since I tend to sit (literally) on my project now and then and pointy scissors are not kind to your bottom. ;-)
For travelling by plane I wouldn't recommend it. Again it depends on the person that checks you out on the security control and in my experience they will remove the scissors from your bag. We are talking about kids scissors here. Best substitute for your scissors will be dental floss. Yes, you heard right.
You are allowed to take dental floss in your hand luggage and, as you know, it has a tiny blade that you can use to cut your yarn. Mi advice is to put any scissors in your drop bag and carry with your project the dental floss.
Then all those waiting/travelling hours will become something else. As simple as that.
