Attending to one of my courses/workshops: What to expect

When you see one of the projects we attack during my classes and workshops you might wonder if it is going to be too difficult for you or not. Let me explain how does all work and what to expect.

First of all, I welcome all levels of ability to my classes. Why is that? That is because you will never need more than some basics to start working on a project. So if you do have the basics, and by that I mean you know how to do a double crochet stitch, you just have to put a couple of techniques on top of that to get going.

But let's say that you never hold a hook and decide to sign up for a workshop or a course. Then I would say that you will spend some class time mastering the basics before you can crack on with the project. That means it will be difficult for you to finish the project during class time. I always provide detailed instructions, links to video tutorials I record ad hoc when necessary and I am always happy to receive any doubts you might have after class. Happy to help! At the end of the day is all about managing expectations.

I recently signed up for a watercolour course. Since I have no previous experience, and on top of that I don't know how to draw, I was happy to try a new skill and see where could it take me. I didn't expect to get to the end of the course with enough material to make a solo exhibition. Not in the slightest.

What I always tell to my students is that we have a project to work out but there is no rush. If you start from a total beginner standpoint just know that it will be difficult to finish the project during class time. However, by the end of the course you will have all the necessary skills to continue and finish it autonomously. I will support you all the way no matter if that is during workshop time or afterwards.

What will you get?

You will receive a kit with all the tools and materials for the project as well as a complete illustrated step by step guide. You will also get access to video recordings of all the techniques showed in class and I will be happy to help and support you with any problems you have.

What will you learn?

  • How to make a slip knot, a foundational chain and all the stitches required for your project.
  • Cross Stitch double crochet stitch v Double crochet stitch if you sign up for a 3D crochet course.
  • How to increase and decrease
  • How to work in spiral
  • The magic ring
  • Different techniques to join parts
  • How to start working in your own designs

If you read all the way down to here (Thanks!!) and still not sure, please drop me a message and I will be happy to answer any questions.
